On one of our many Easter tramps, this time in South Westland, she’d headed out from the hut when the stragglers in our group noticed a young man wandering around looking for his boots.  There was a pair that looked a bit like his, but they were not his.  They were too small.  These boots were recognised by members of our party as Caroline’s.  Yes, Caroline was striding down the Copeland Valley wearing this man’s boots!

And she moved fast. She walked at a pace that for everyone else was a jog.
